  1. Very nice, John. Quite effective as a matching photo to your haiku. I can feel the cold, hard, crispness easily. Thanks.

  2. For those mystified by the word ‘omphalos’, it means a ‘rock marking the centre of the cosmos’ (or possibly of an artistic world, such as John’s) or the ‘navel of the earth’. The way the ice or snow has come to rest in the navel here is very beautiful. The poem adds further layers of resonance.
