In the dusk

To the sound of a stream––

Fireflies

………………………………….. Alighting on my black shirt

……………………………………… A firefly pauses, waits––

…………………………………………. My first gold medal!

  1. Nice post, Mayumi! Were the haiku composed by Kiyotaki Stream perhaps? Haiku #2 is slightly reminiscent of my own haiku about dragonflies a few years ago. https://hailhaiku.wordpress.com/2008/08/28/olympics-of-the-scarecrows/ I like the expression of wonder in your own.

ha ha!! love the alighting fireflies and your gold medal, Mayumi!
    You deserve it.

  3. Mayumi Kawaharada Says:

    Thank you Stephen, and Ursula!
The Haiku composed by Shirakawa stream (Near Chioin temple).
I see. We both wrote “Medal Haiku”!

  4. Hi Mayumi. Nice combination of visual and sound in the first poem. Fireflies, and the trickle of a stream. A quiet magical scene, and atmosphere, in the dark. Thanks for transporting me there.
