The humour latent in the idea of busy buddhas (or bodhisattvas) is enjoyable and the word ‘rumour’ also casts the photo in an amusing light. The seasonal reference is essential.
I took the photo in Kumogahata, a mountainous region about an hour’s drive north of Kyoto city centre. The small shrine in question is not even on google maps! It is, however, on poetry maps now!!
